Repurposed Vintage Indian Brass Deity Bowl Candle - Soft Sandalwood

A vintage Indian brass bowl worked in intricate repousse, its exterior depicting a seated deity figure within circular medallions, surrounded by dense floral scrollwork and framed by a fine dotted border. Hand-poured with Soft Sandalwood - warm, creamy and quietly grounding, with notes of sandalwood, bergamot, saffron, cinnamon and lily over a base of cedarwood, amber, patchouli and coconut.

Repousse - the art of hammering and shaping metal from the reverse to create raised decoration on the front - is one of India's oldest and most skilled metalworking traditions. The level of detail on this bowl is considerable. The deity sits serenely within each medallion, surrounded by scrolling flowers and leaves that cover almost every surface. 

At 11cm across with three wicks, it burns generously and sits beautifully. The brass has the warm, mellowed tone of something that has been handled and treasured over a long period of time.

Once the candle has burned down, the bowl is yours to keep, display or use as it was originally intended.
