Gemwyth Sea Jewellery: The Intersection Of Sea And Style | London Accessory Week

About Gemweyth Sea Glass Jewellery

As a child it was a main pastime to head to the beach after a storm to see what treasures we could find. This soon become very fun and addictive. After a few years of collecting random items I started to notice smooth pieces of glass that littered the shoreline. Although technically classed as litter they were too beautiful to leave behind and this is where the journey started. Gemweyth Sea Glass Jewellery is a handmade jewellery business based in Cornwall, South West England.

Jewellery made of recycled glass and sustainably sourced materials

Once I had collected jars of this glass I needed to find a use for them, that's when the idea of making jewellery came to me. Over the years my designs grew and evolved. I made it my ethos to only use recycled glass and sustainably sourced materials in my designs and now I am the proud owner of a sustainable brand. Sea glass is a term used for the broken pieces that are washed up along shorelines all over the world. Each piece has been naturally tumbled in the ocean over a long period of time and the result of this creates a beautiful smooth piece of glass that almost resembles a gemstone.

From bedroom workshop to design studio

Our journey began in 2016 when Becky, our founder, decided it was time to take the next step with her hobby. Since then we have grown rapidly, starting off from a small workshop in Becky's bedroom to having a purpose built studio based on The Lizard Peninsula. We have also been featured in some popular magazines across the UK. Our latest achievements are to have been featured in Vanity Fair Magazine and becoming official sponsors of the National Social Media Awards 2021 in London.
