Interview with London Accessory Week exhibitor Ô Sablé | London Accessory Week by X Terrace

Ô SABLÉ is inspired by the tropical luxury that naturally emanates from the bio-resources and the beauty of Guadeloupe, my island in the Caribbean.

How and when did you start your beauty brand?

I started seriously thinking of creating my own brand and business in my 40s. So far, my career was in scientific research, particularly in biotech. I loved being a scientist, however I wanted to fulfil another childhood dream of developing beauty products. What are your sources of inspiration? Ô SABLÉ is inspired by the tropical luxury that naturally emanates from the bio-resources and the beauty of Guadeloupe, my island in the Caribbean. For instance, I used coffee from Guadeloupe to formulate a coffee soap. Later, I created jewellery and handbags complementing the beauty range. Here again, I work with materials of tropical origin such as the calabash which is the fruit of Crescentia cujete L., a species originating from South America.

How would you describe your design/product concept?

I will say that my products are quite unique. Formulations and packaging can be personalised for specific needs. Recently, I have been asked to package a body oil in a more suitable container for a lady with hand impairment. Similarly, jewellery and artworks of bags can be adapted and personalised. What's the proudest moment in your beauty brand owner career? What makes you a happy creator? As a French expatriate, I will say that show-casing Ô SABLÉ at the British embassy in Paris was a proud moment. I am a happy creator when I can see one of my ideas or product/concept being live and, in the hands of the customers, such a joy! Why do you do what you do? What do you like about your job? Driven by passion, I enjoy using my scientific expertise to investigate and source potential cosmetic ingredients and materials. Using my imagination and creativity to deliver beautiful packaging and other lifestyle products brings an other dimension to my work. I have always been a multitasking person.

Which of your designs is your favourite?

Can you tell us the story behind it? The Karukera bag is one of my favourites. I created the bag during the Covid lockdown. The artwork is an artistic adaptation of a landscape in Guadeloupe which I and my parents were admiring.

Do you have anything else you would like to let London Accessory Week readers and customers know about you and your brand?
