Interview with London Accessory Week exhibitor Vintage Amara | London Accessory Week by X Terrace
Vintage Amara is a really unique jewellery brand, we sell vintage-style jewellery, think old Hollywood movie stars.
Tell us a little about you and your brand!
My name is Abi Amara and I’m 20 years old. Having trained in musical theatre growing up, I fell in love with all the old musicals from the 20s-60s, this led me to be obsessed with the old Hollywood glamour of those eras. Vintage Amara is a really unique jewellery brand, we sell vintage-style jewellery, think old Hollywood movie stars, with the capsule collection being released at London Accessory Week 2022. But not only do we sell this, we also sell jewellery that is ACTUALLY vintage from the 1920s - 1990s! We call this section of our brand: The Vintage Vault. Everything in this section is one of a kind and cannot be replaced, we sell vintage designer jewellery too, some of the brands we stock are Dior, Balenciaga, YSL, Givenchy, Monet… The list goes on!
What has been your proudest moment?
I love seeing people wear my jewellery! Of course, I’ve only seen people wear the vintage jewellery I sell, so it'll be really exciting to see my own designs on customers after the launch this weekend. I think what's so special about selling vintage jewellery is that I know that person is going to be one of very few people in the world to own that piece… This makes Vintage Amara really special.
Where do you get the inspiration for your collections?
For the capsule collection and future designs, they are taken exactly from a one-of-a-kind vintage piece. Vintage Amara jewellery is truly vintage in the way it looks and the way it feels, so it's only right to use these old, amazing pieces as my sources of inspiration when designing.

We would love to hear about your studio!
I love it when clients reach out to me and ask for advice on what piece of jewellery to buy. Or sometimes when collectors buy from me, I always make them aware of our large back stock - any era of jewellery, we’ve most likely got it! This is great for when I supply jewellery to the TV and film industry here in London and in LA.
How would you describe your products?
My products are sultry and glamorous. It's made to make you feel this way too, as if you were an old Hollywood movie star at their premier. I would say it's nothing like you’ve seen before, but in fact, it’s quite literally what the art deco/old Hollywood era saw! So it's nothing like you've seen before… in these times.
What do you enjoy doing when not creating accessory products?
I think because I’m self employed and because I love this job so much I never really switch off. I'm all the time on Pinterest looking at inspiration for Vintage Amara, or watching old films/musicals and looking at all the jewellery. But I love acting and auditioning for roles in tv, films or commercials and just being with my friends, really - or wearing my jewellery to various nightclubs in London. Maybe I should take business cards with me next time I go out!
